Thank you so much for your reply. My great-great grandfather was Obediah Strickland Martin. His father was Wright Martin born abt 1794/97 in NC, he was married to Martha Strickland born about 1797/1807 also from NC. I found them on the 1820 census in Hancock, Ga. Wright recieved land in the Alabama land lotto 1856 and 1859. I have a copy of the grant and it states Wright Martin of Randolph Co, AL. I also found them in the census of 1830 in DeKalb County, I can't locate them in 1840, but found them 1850 in Randolph, AL. I have not had access to census reports to look up Stricklands in Randolph County, AL, but I am sure they were there as well. I think that Martha's parents were Samuel Strickland b.1779-1820 and Margaret Stanley b. 1780-1865, both were born in Sampson Co., NC and died in Johnston Co., NC. Margaret's father was William Stanley. My great-grandfather's name was William Stanley Martin and he had a sister Margaret and a brother Samuel. Martha has been a name that has been in my family up to my generation, I have a sister named Martha. Samuel and Margaret Strickland had about 14 kids, Could it be possible that your Calvin, Sr. was one of the older son's child? The names of the children were John, Thena, Jessie Kinnon, Hester,Martha, James, Samuel, Jr., Wilson, Charlotte, Rebecca, Henry Wright, Bennett Bright, Nancy and Caroline. I got this information from Ancestor.com and they were all documented sources. Most all of Samuel's children migrated to Georgia and Alabama. If there is a possible kinship, I do have a picture of William Stanley Martin and his family that I can e-mail to you if you want it. Thanks again for your reply. I tried your email, but it wouldn't go through. Notify Administrator about this message?
