Children of Jacob Strickland and Amy Salvin are:

So, in spite of the fact that you can find just about whatever you want on the internet, and even "proof", or at least an undocumented source, Charles Robert Anderson, in his 1995 work, 'The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England 1620-1633' cites these two TAG references as being the definitive study of John Strickland and family:
1) 'John Strickland of Long Island and his Sons-in-Law', by Herbert F Smith, Esq., of Washington, D. C.; The American Genealogist and New Haven Genealogical Magazine; New Haven, D L Jacobus, 1932-1937; vol 11, Oct 1934 pg 81-87, Jan 1935 pg 145-153, Apr 1935 pg 197-208; LDS film # 1425624, item 3.
2) 'Strickland Notes', compiled by Donald Lines Jacobus, M. A., of New Haven, Conn.; The American Genealogist; New Haven, D L Jacobus, 1937- ; vol 20, Apr 1944 pg 207-215,LDS film # 1425625 item 2; cont'd vol 21, July 1944 pg 85-92; LDS film # 1320924, item 5.
In the first, on pg 87, Mr Smith states, "In 'Eavenson-Strickland and Allied Families', by Sexta Eavenson Strickland, and published in 1933, it mentions the Westmoreland (England) family on page 68 and then it goes on to say that Sir John Strickland came from Scotland to Massachusetts in 1629-1630 and later removed to Hempstead, New York. In 1649 Cromwell sent him as Ambassador to Holland; he is said to have married Jane Fenwick and died in 1672."Copies of this work on CD are readily available on ebay and such.
So, maybe I have confused madams Bunker and Strickland and their respective Seaman and Fenwick fictions ...
It would seem that Seaman did marry a Strickland, just that she was not a known daughter of John, and her origins, like numerous other Stricklands, remains a mystery.
Eugenia Sexta Eavenson Strickland is also noted, in Georgia at least, for having composed the Pledge of Allegiance to Georgia.
Anway, I would certainly recommend a personal viewing of the Smith work and 'Strickland Notes' by Jacobus.
Godspeed!
Bill Strickland
