Ed, First of all thank you for your response. These Stricklands are my husband's side. First of all there wer two Stephen Stricklands who were church planters. and it is confusing at times as I have had to try and decide which one was which. This is the way my husband's line runs through the Stricklands-
1. Matthew Stricklan B abt 1637 England D 1696 Isle of Wright Co. Va. spouse Elizabeth Loreen came to America on the Globe 1680. Several children among the children
2 Matthew StricklandB 1674 iSLE OF WRIGHT, wRIGHT Co. VA.
spouse Ann Braswell B 1675 Newport Parish, Isle of Wright
Amonmg their children was
3. Jacob Strickland B. 1695 Isle of Wright, D. 1790 Nash Co. N.C.in the spring. Spoise Lemar Lucretia Pitts B 1705 Carrituck P. Va. among their children
4. Elisha A. Strickland B. 1720 Gilford Co. N. C. d After 23 Feb 1795 in Wake Co. (I think he had two wives, but have not found her)Spouse Kinchen Upchurch B before 1929 N.C. among their children wa Isaac Strickland Born 1744 Wake Co. N.C. lived on Anson Co, N. Warren Co. Ky., and then in Georgia, Franklin Co. Isaac married Elizabeth b. 1745 im N.C. married 1762 in N.C.The children I have for them are
STEPHEN STRICKLAND Born 19 Dec 1764 Wake Co. NC. and
ELISHA STRICKLAND BORN 1768 IN N.C.I believe this Stephen was involved in planting the churches you have mentioned.
This Stephen was a brother to Elisha Strickland . Elisha was married to Polly Lacefield b 1778 in Green Co, they wed 1 March 1800 in Warren County. Among their children was Stephen Andrew Stricklsnd b 11 April 1801 Warren Co. Ky.died 10 Dec 1890 in Blanket, Brown Co., Texas and is buried Rock City Cemetery-Logan Valley Cemetery. He helped organize first Christian Church in West Fork, Washington Co. Arkansas about 1837-1840. First meetings were held under an elm tree until the elders built a church of hewed logs. (NW AR History) In 1850 census he is in Williamson Co. Texas, wife Eda and children occupation Christan Clergymen , same in 1860 census 1870 census, Williamson Co. Texas, 1880 the same. This Stephen had a sister Rutha Strickland who married Elijah L. Webb 20 Feburary 1819, Gibson Co. Indiana but they lived in Ind, Il, Ark and in Texas where Rutha died after 1860 census she is not in 1870, but Isaac is. My husband's line in thur Rutha and Elijah L. Webb. Wm Jasper, Robert B. us. Elijah L. Webb first child was Stephen Strickland Webb. This was what I had near my computer that I was puttin a a narrative so my sons could understand a litle beter their lineage. I will check futher to see about the first Rev. Stephen , and send it to you, I feel the limk is there as you have related. Thank youi. DonnaAZ
