of Maryland....Vol. 1-7....
These are accounts that were covering all counties sent to main Maryland repository.
There were no mentions of a Matthew Strickland in any of these.
There was a Henry Strickland, his sons John, Joseph and William, and in 975.2 P28sk Vol. 4 p. 143, 2 Jun 1743, a mention of payment to a Mr. Gabril Parker for Richard Strickland from the accounts of Samuel Griffith....executors were Lewis Griffith, and John Griffith...other foks were paid including a merchant in London.
So, where these private Strickland papers are...(they are not in the "Ray" papers, have gone through those...one of the largest Strickland research tools, contain letters from descendants, 975.D24 Vol. 107, by Worth Stickley Ray and his wife Marie Wroten, collected and compiled in Austin Texas, 1930-1952.)
Perhaps they refer to Hugh B. Johnson "Strickland Family of Virg." but they don't contain any documents only typed copies of the other information we all have, (wills in Isle of Wight, Nash and Wake Co. for descendants of the original Matthew Strickland.)
It would be nice to know where these papers are stored...if it is in a library, the attendants could hand-copy them...if they exist.
