Sherri,
My Strickland line is David b. abt.1735, Robert Sr. b. 1774, Robert Jr.
b. abt. 1810, Simpson Monroe b. 1853, William Roan b. 1881, Roy Lee
b. 1907, Gayle b. 1931.
My Strickland database contains over 8000 folks, including over 600
Stricklands.
Your post suggests that you are familiar with Stricklands in Sabine
Parish.
The following transcription is taken from an 8 page report apparently
prepared in about 1964 by an unknown genealogist for a group of
Stricklands in South MS that were trying for the Wilson millions.

I wonder if you have any data from Sabine Parish that would support
or conflict with the transcription.I find nothing in the census records
to support it.

Much research has been done by descendants of both Henry and William
"Buck" Strickland, in trying to determine their relationship, ident-
Henry and William as brothers and sons of Robert Strickland Sr. who
died in 1856, such research has chiefly been done by descendants of
said William "Buck" Strickland and his brother Robert Strickland. of
whom are proven sons of Robert Strickland, thus far has been a
failure; descendants of Henry Strickland contend that Solomon
Strickland was the father of Henry Strickland; Luther Strickland above
mentioned stated that his grandfather Henry Strickland's father was
one Solomon Strickland; J. H. Henson of Natchez, Miss. States that my
Grandfather Henry Strickland's father was Solomon Strickland.

The most convincing family history is offered by Mr. A. I. Strickland
of Baton Rouge, La., who states that my father's (Richard Strickland)
grandfather was Solomon Strickland, but I do not know how it can be
proved; he further states that my father had but one Uncle that I
could swear he had, and he was James Strickland who died in
Natchotoches Parish, long before my time; he further stated that James
Strickland had a son David, my fathers first cousin, who lived in
Sabine or Vernon Parish, who visited my father when I was a small boy,
and that said David had a son Solomon who later moved to Tangaphoa
Parish and for a short while lived there, then returned to Sabine
Parish; Sabine Parish court records confirm Mr. Strickland's statement
relatively to James and David Strickland 100%.Mr. Strickland
emphatically states that William "Buck" Strickland was not his
Fathers (Richard Strickland's) uncle, nor did his father ever have an
uncle in Pike County; he states that everyone addressed "Buck"
Strickland as uncle "Buck"; Mr. Strickland is the oldest known
grandson of Henry Strickland of Pike County, he is near 90 years of
age, his offering is the most comprehensive family history yet to be
offered by a descendant of Henry Strickland.

END OF TRANSCRIPTIONRobert Sr., son of David apparently had a brother Solomon, who would
figure to be the father of Henry if indeed Henry is not a son of
Robert Sr.I have found no trace of this Solomon after he left home,
presumabley about the same time as Robert Sr.
Mr A. I. Strickland is Archie Ivy(Iverson), b. 21 June 1876 in LA.
Other researchers have assumed that Henry is a son of Robert Sr.

Any light you might shed on this puzzle as it relates to Sabine Parish
would be appreciated.
would be appreciated.Gayle Strickland
