Wow! This gets odder by the minute. Thanks for the info on the parents of Ida #2, I didn't have that. I have not been able to find much on any family by the name of Honkus until around the turn of the century. But not only was Aaron's first wife named Ida but HER maiden name was Smith & HER mother's name was Matilda. I can't seem to find any connection, however. The mother of Ida #1, Matilda Burling Smith & her husband, Henry, came from NJ, then to Montgomery Co. Ohio, & on to Indiana. When Henry Smith died, Matilda married Elijah Lowe, whose family also followed the same migration route. I didn't have the Strayers figured out but these Smiths appear to be much harder! I did learn a lesson in all of this - I shouldn't have assumed that the Tombaugh book was correct. If I come across any Strayer info while trying to sort out the Idas & families, I'll let you know!
