Good luck in your search. You may have noticed that I anglicised Pannebecker to Pennybaker just to suggest that when you do hunt Derrick up on the census you are likely to find the German name altered somewhat. At some remote point, evidently your ancestor was noted for baking bread in pans (pfaenne) instead of just throwing the loaf on the bricks.
