May I make a suggestion for your research ? Are you near a Mormon Family History Center ? The moght be able to advise how you could secure copies of church records for an area (such as Lykens Twp.) for a nominal cost (I believe the las I heard was $3 a roll for a certain period of time) = they might be able to secure the tape(s) and you could review the tapes at the center ?
The Salt Lake Distribution Center should be able to proivde you a copy of their centers across the country (or maybe just your state) - the address for the Distribution Center is 1999 West 1700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84014 telephone 1-800-537-5971. It might be worth a call to talk to someone about a pulication of the addresses for the center - I believe the cost for a several page publication is $2.50
Also if do talk to someone you might be able to request the free family group charts (8 1/2 by 11) which will alow you to do familiy data - each sheet allows for 6 children = the horiziontal sheets costs something like $3.35 for a group of 25 sheets - the vertical free sheets come in packets of 25 - I have an account which lets me go into the distribution center and order however many packets of the vertical forms I want (love those free items)
The email address for the distribution center is firstname.lastname@example.org
If you gon into familysearch.org you may notice the family history library catalog - it has several queries - locality, one for family names, authors, what ever else - if you try the locality entry you may want to look for churches in Lykens Twp. (hint just use Lykens - you will ge tboth the boro of Lykens and Lykens Twp. then look for churches - the items which come up probably will list the compilers name - the use the compilers name to check what publcations they have compiled -- look for the churches and you should be able to find out what microfilm the are on at the Family History Library in Salt Lake. My wife an I have been to Salt Lake several times and plan what sources we want to check thru the catalog on line -- saves time out there (have all you sources printed to take along) = then locate the films and go to a reader - first time users of the library should consider a briefing at the library when they arrive to get acquianted with the library and the sources. We stay at the Best Wesyern Plaza whic is next door to the library (actually around the corner) and across the street from Temple Square (when we call for reservations we mention we are coming out to research and get a reduced room rate)
Good luck in your research
