I am looking for information on Dr. Solomon P. Stratton's family. Sol was born on Oct. 22, 1904 and died in 1970. He was a podiatrist and practiced in the Ashland, Ky area.
I believe my grandfather's mother was a Stratton and I am trying to trace back his side of the family as he never mentioned who his parents were. I am certain he and Solomon P. Stratton were related. My grandfather is Frank Theodore Price b. 12/06/1890 or 1893 in Cairo or Mound City Illinois. His mother passed away when he was about 10 years old. He had a brother named Tom Price and I think Tom was older. Frank's mother was Charlotte Imogene Wheeler of Fort Gay, WV.
I recently discovered several letters written to my grandfather from his Aunt Sophia from Portsmouth, Ohio. The letters were written around 1918 and Sophia addresses my grandfather as nephew. She ends the letters with Leo sends his love. I am assuming Leo is her spouse but I am unsure.
I also found a few letters from his cousin Anna Amelia in Portsmouth, Ohio. Anna mentions the following names in her letters: Sophia, Elza, George,and Ineza. As to how all these relatives are related I am unsure but I think Elza may be Anna's brother.
The letters from Solomon P. Stratton to my grandfather mentions Ineza. He writes that Ineza says mother is doing better.
In addition, I found an old handwritten list in my grandfathers pen naming Capt. Solomon Stratton and Jenny Layn and their children. It listed their wives names too. It is as follows:
James Stratton - Nancy Hunt
Sam Stratton - Martha Williams
Roe Stratton - Mary Williams
Sol Stratton - Martha Marcum
John Stratton - Malisa Ellen Bradshaw
Jane Stratton - Harvy Leslie
Kate stratton - Bill Bradshaw
Tandy Stratton - unknown
Lenzy Stratton - unknown
My goal is to discover my grandfather's parents names. I sent for his birth certificate and military records but the names are not on them. Any help is greatly appreciated. If the letters or documents I have mentioned can be of any help in your genealogy search I am happy to email copies to you. Thanks- Cricket Sirls
