Gilmore Stratton 1844- 7/12/1898

Civil War Veteran. Married Lucinda Cathum Smith b. 9/13/1842 d. 4/15/1897. Had children Elizabeth, Abraham Lincoln Stratton, John Sylvester Stratton, George Stratton, Billy Stratton, Henry Stratton and Bert Stratton(who was supposedly a Spanish American war vet). We have gone years with Gilmore (previously thought to be Gilmer) as the farthest back we can trace this side of the family, I then thought that I found Stacy L. Stratton and Margaret Grimesey to be his parents, but that has proven not to be the case. I am now thinking that per the 1860 census, that maybe Aaron Stratton born in Kentucky in 1808 might be his father, but still can get nowhere. Gilmore and Lucinda are both buried in Topeka, Kansas. John Sylvester Stratton is buried in Holton, Kansas. John Sylvester married Nettie Violet Riley. The other children I have no information on. John Sylvester Stratton died in 1975 and was very close to my mother, and he did not know much anything about his father Gilmore and knew absolutely nothing about Gimore's parents. Please help. I've gone through census's from 1850-1920 and not found any answers. I'm getting desperate.
