I am writing because Lorenz Strack came up in our family's conversation the other evening. Lorenz lived in NYC and was convicted in the early 1930's of being a "Ponzi. My grandfather lost a fair amount of money to him, as he was orphaned and Mr. Strack was an 'investor'. The fortune, along with others money, was lost. Strack served time after his conviction. My aunt remembers as a child driving with my grandfather in a car and him stopping, them getting out, so he could introduce her to Mr. Strack...old, bent and broken by then. His family had abandoned him. She said she never forgot how my grandfather forgave him, treated him with dignity and always stopped to greet him whenever he was spotted. I wanted his family to know that some people did forgive him and got on with their lives.
