Mary Margaret "Maggie" Fitch Stowe Portrait

There is a large, finely done portrait of her owned by the Waco Historical Foundation, Waco, TX. Circa 1895.

Mary Margaret Fitch was born 7 Aug 1855 in Sherman, Grayson County, Texas and lived in Sherman until her death on 26 March 1939. She was the daughter of John Alexander Fitch (1824-1880) and Mary J. Scott Fitch (1828-1895). Fitch was a prosperous farmer and stock raiser in Grayson County.

On 16 Oct 1872, Mary Margaret Fitch, who was sometimes known as Maggie, married Charles Laban Stowe (1850-1921). Stowe was a grocer and real estate agent in Sherman, Texas. Charles and Margaret Stowe had four children: Charles L., Jr., (b. 1874), Maud (b. 1877), LeRoy (b. 1879), and John Fitch (b. 1881).
