Penelope Stout's mtDNA?

Have any of Penelope Stout's matrilineal descendants had their mtDNA tested? It wouldn't say anything about her father (whether he was Dutch or English) but it would say something about her mother's deep ancestry. It may be a shot in the dark but could give researchers some new insight.

For those of you who you do not know about mtDNA, it's carried in mitochondria found outside the nucleus of the cell. It's not part of our regular genome. Mitochondria has it's own genetic makeup quite separate from our chromosomes! But the trick here is that the mother (and the mother only) passes the mtDNA to her parents. In other words, your mtDNA will look just like your mother's mother's mother's mother. On occasion, a mutation does occur which accounts for the differences among families.

I've spent the afternoon listing matrilineal descendants of Penelope's. There may be a great deal of error with it (I welcome any corrections, as well as additions) but it's not intended to be a complete genealogy. It serves only in the hunt for Penelope's mtDNA.

The most recent family I've identified today, if I'm correct, is that of Mary Phrania Cruise (1913-1996) and Edward John Hunt. Are any of the Hunt sisters still alive? Mary K Hunt m ___ Stohl.)
