Marilyn Vaglia did great research on Jonathan Story and gave me he permission to put it here. I have had a number of contacts asking about this man but she solved a great part of the mystery.

She visited Goshen, NY and found relevant records. Jonathan Story was the father of her g.g.grandfather, Jonathan Gideon Story. "In a land deed dated 7 January 1819, Jonathan Gideon Story sells, by right of inheritance, his one seventh share of land that his father, Jonathan Storey, owned. In this deed, Jonathan Gideon Storey mentions his brother, John Story. John Storey. (1800 Census shows Jonathan Storey had seven children)"

"In a deed preceeding this one and filed the same day, Alanson H. Storey mentions that this land is bordered by land belonging to John Storey. Alanson H. mentions his brother, Jonathan Story. Both Alanson H. and Jonathan Gideon sell this land to Increase B. Stoddard. He owned land adjoining the Storeys. So these land transfers prove Jonathan Story's three sons."

Increase Stoddard's diary published in the 1920 and 1930s
states that Mr. Storey (namely Jonathan) died last night Oct 1, 1801

My Stoddard was also from Connecticut and records marriages one mentioning Deby Story. This possibly one of the daughters as Jonathan's mother was Deborah Elderkin.
The land sold by Jonathan Storey in Minisink (NY) somehow came into his possession but no grantee books listed him.
A long time employee in the Clerk's office suggested he might have inherited this. The tax record and land deeds prove Jonathan Gideon Story born in Minisink, the two older
boys probably born in CT.

I am extremely grateful to Mrs Vaglia doing this research ans sharing it with all.
