Edward Storey (Story, Storie), b 1756 Chesterfield Co., VA
I research a Rudd family of Henrico Co. & later Chesterfield Co., Virginia. My research indicates that Hannah (perhaps Russell) Rudd, wife of John Rudd, Jr., was a sister of Elizabeth, who married John Storey and had a son, Edward. (See preceding message.) The information below outlines my theory that Edward Storey, b in 1756 in Chesterfield Co., was either that same Edward, or perhaps was his son, and that the Edward Storey born in 1756 lived near the Rudds and other families related to the Rudds.
09 Oct 1756 Chesterfield Co., VA. Edward Storey was born. According to the web page of Jeri Garner, [email protected], at wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com, database "jerigarner," last updated 28 Jan 2007; accessed 03 Sep 2009: The Revolutionary War record of Edward or Edward Robert Storey/Story/Storie [she uses the Storie spelling] said that after he married Joicey Sampson Bates, they lived "on Winterpick Swamp in the neighborhood of Cat-Tail Creek." I think that "Winterpick Swamp" is actually Wintopoc Creek.
Cattail Creek was on the north side of the Appomattox River in the early 1700s, Henrico Co., VA. Wintopock Creek was also on the north side of the Appomattox River. From: http://www.directlinesoftware.com/Pool/chesterf.txthttp://www.directlinesoftware.com/Pool/chesterf.txt.Accessed 04 Sep 2009.
This is significant because the Rudds and many of their relatives lived on Wintopoc Creek. It may be that John & Elizabeth Storey lived near them, as well. Rudd is spelled Rud, Red, Redd, and even Read in early Virginia records.
