Stonestreet Family Genealogy Forum

There were Stonestreets in early southern Maryland (Charles and Prince George's Counties) and later were in Montgomery Co., MD. If you want to e-mail me your home address, I will copy what we have in our historical society on the family. I have quite a few books on southern Maryland which you might be able to see at a large genealogy library, but they are available from Willow Bend Books in Westminster, MD <www.WillowBend.net>. One of my books is about land records in Prince George's County 1733-1739. A Butler Stonestreet is a witness to about five transactions, but none involving him purchasing land. Here in Montgomery County we have a Stonestreet Ave. and people who do not know it was named for a local family cannot understand why is has both the words "street" and "avenue." The Charles County Community College in LaPlata has great records and might be able to send you some information. There is also a genealogy library in Prince George's County. Some of my ancestors from Charles County went to the Rowan/Davie area of North Carolina. I do not remember if the Stonestreets also went there, but I will check.
