Genealogists please read
Hey, I would like to ask for some help.I am from the Sebastian line and I'm poor.I have been to Sebastians grave and it is barely legible anymore.I would like to know if anyone else would be interested in making donations towards the replacement of this stone. For those interested he is in Stonebraker/bunker hill cemetery in Ripley twnp IN.I find it interesting that most people on here list his burial as bunker hill cemetery when it is well known to be stonebraker cemetery, at least in Montgomery Co IN.
I also have a lead on Sebastians Bible, there are copies of the transcriptions of this Bible in our library.Does anyone know what happened to it?It was in the posession of one Harold McCormick in Crawfordsville IN, I found his son who was the executor and he said the Bible was not in the home and thus is lost. The person who translated it from German was named Karl Heinz Planitz and he was a German Prof at Wabash College.Karl is dead and I can find no information on who might have inhereted his estate.I could cry...this is the first gen born in America and the McCormicks seem to have misplaced one of our most treasured heirlooms.
Anyone with any information about either of these things please e-mail me or call (765-339-4838) or something. Also, some on here claim that Goerge (Jorg) and his son Caleb are buried in Bunkerhill (Stonebraker) cemetery.I live in the county and can find no such record. If anyone can produce documentation of this I would appreciate it.I know that Caleb died in Ripley twnp but there is no actual record of him being buried there.Anyhow, I would like to replace a lot of the stoness located in Stonebraker Cemetery. If anyone is interested in helping with this project PLEASE contact me.I plan to map the cemetery as best I can and then start trying to replace the stones, starting with Sebastian (Boston) Stonebraker.I have a listing of every Stonebraker buried there if anyone needs/wants it.
Thanks,
David Stonebraker
