Harry Stone OH, PA, WV
Continue to seek information on my grandfather, Harry Earnest or Ernest Stone. Harry would have been born approx. 1874-1876.He was killed in 1910, in the town of New Albany, Ohio which is near Columbus and Westerville, Ohio. Was said to have fought in the Spanish American War.Listed fathers place of birth as Pennsylvania in census records.Harry's marriage license listed his place of birth as Holmes County, Ohio where there is a large Amish population.Harry was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge in New Albany and had their symbol (a hand clasp)tatooed on his arm. He married Alice "Allie" Williamson and had one son, my father, Sylvester E. Stone. Harry was approx. 35 when he married Alice who was only approx. 17. In the paper that reported his death when a horse through him under a street car, it was said that he was a native of West Virginia with no relatives in the Columbus area.Once when he was under the influence of alcohol he said that his parents names were Jacob and Rachael and that he was in trouble with the law after shooting a man in an arguement over a dog.He seemed to be well educated and was secretary for the lodge.I do not know what may be true or not true in this information but seek help from anyone who sees any slight conection to their Stone ancestors even if the name is different. He may have been using a different first name. He may have left his family or may have been married before coming to the Columbus area. If you are missing a relative in your line, it could be my grandfather. I pray that some information may be forthcoming.I do have a picture of Harry if requested.
