I have been out of genealogy for about a year, but I'm getting back into it some. However, I thought I would write back on the Stone Family. So, many thought the Lunenburg Stone's was from William, but a number of years ago that was completely found to be false.I wish I could have found direct proof, but all I have is circumstantial.
First, the main conclusion for the Lunenburg Stone's was from John Stone's findings.Except the record that records Richard as John's younger brother, I could find nothing else on Richard. But, John has been recorded the most. It would appear that John of Lunenburg now did descend from the Middlesex County Stones. The key came from John Stone of Lunenburg naming a son, Eusebius. From this name, Eusebius, it appears along lineage's of this family for about a 100 years.
It would appear that John Stone of Lunenburg was the son of John Stone II, which was the son of John Stone I of Middlesex County. The family moved from Middlesex County to King and Queen County, where it appears where John II was born.Court records show that John II had brothers, named Eusebius, William, Thomas and Richard. The family moved from King and Queen Co. to King William County around 1727.Later that year that part of the County formed Caroline County. The problem is John II appeared to have died in this county around 1735.Proven by a court summary recorded but no records of a will.John of Lunenburg seems to have married to an Elizabeth around 1733.
John II's brother was named Eusebius Stone who would later move and own land in Orange County.John of Lunenburg appeared to have followed his uncle Eusebius Stone into Orange County. And the area settled by these Stone's was on the edge of a new County to form by the name of Brunswick.Recorded in Orange county, tax record found recorded in 1739, tithes of John Stone. This part of Orange County would form Brunswick County thus finding John Stone on this land of Orange county in 1739, shows up on this land when it becomes Brunswick in 1746, John Stone's property.Later in that year this part of Brunswick will become Lunenburg. When Richard becomes old enough he purchases land in Brunswick in 1746, adj. to land of his brother John Stone.
John II Stone is confirmed in the will as a grandson, the eldest, of his grandfather, Thomas O'Brissell.confirming that his daughter, Mary O'Brissell the wife of John Stone I. of Middlesex Co.Thomas also names grandchildren, Thomas and Eusebius Lewis of Daughter, Elizebeth.
John Stone I will was probated in Caroline County on the 13 Jan 1737, presented by wife Mary O'brissell, witnessed by her son Eusebius Stone.I wish more records could be found but just this little amount of material and the way the Lunenburg Stone's set up in the path of these land purchases, I believe the Stone's of Lunenburg are descent from the Stone's of Middlesex.
