Mr. Altman
How in the world I overlooked your return reply on the forum I just don't understand. Please forgive me for doing so. Your information that you gave serves to answer a very important question as to William Stone born in 1734/36 to
William Stone and Elizabeth Dennett.
I did not know that Elizabeth's fathers name was John and also I never knew who her son William married until I found your reply. This may be the answer to what I have been looking for. Within my family line of Stones' the name of
Phillip Hurst appears as an Uncle to; Jonathan Stone who would marry Rebecca Winston and John B. Stone Sr., who married Sarah Walker, Mary Stone, William Stone Jr. his wife I do not know. These he claimed in his "Last Will and Testament" to be his hephews and niece by John Stone his brother-in-law. Also in his will he was Uncle to William Green all of Halifax County, North Carolina. In researching Phillip I found he and his siblings were all born in Duplin County, North Carolina. His father was John Hurst born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia and his mother Mary Hardey
of Duplin County.Phillip has two sister's named Alice and
Mary Hurst.
Jonathan Stone, his nephew and Felicia Cook, had a son that they named Jonathan Murray Stone. In a document on the
daughter of Avarilla Green Stone who was the daughter within that document of James A. Stone and Nancy Ann Bobbitt-Stone who married Charnock Cox Rust. The report
list her grandparents as Jonathan Stone and Felicia Cook.
It also states that Jonathan was the son of Capt. John Stone
and Alice Hurst. This where I have a problem also. In Jonathan Stone's will he acknowledges that Avarilla Green Stone is his granddaughter but as he delicates to each of his children his pocessions he never list James Albert Stone as his son. In a report on James Albert Stone and Matilda Stacy-Stone, Jame's wife, they did not list Avarilla
Green Stone as one of the children belonging to James and Matilda Stone. Jonathan and Felicia Cook Stone had a son that they named Jonathan Murray Stone that married Rebecca Winston and that they had several sons, Elias Murray Stone,
Silas Murray Stone, Francis Murray and James A. Stone. James as his brothers Francis and Silas were listed as farmers but they teachers in the common schools of North Carolina at that time. The papers of James A. Stone are listed in the North Carolina State Archives andwithin them there is no mention of Avarilla Green Stone. Now the Green name appears again in Jonathan Stone's brother John B. Stone
that married Sarah Walker. They had a son that they named Thomas Green Stone. I am searching for the Stone (daughter
or sister) that married into the Green family. In the lineage you provided the name Green comes up. The daughter of William Stone and Elizabeth Dennett-Stone, Lucy Stone married Henry Green. I am thinking that their son William born in 1734 is the Capt. John William Stone Sr. of Halifax-Franklin County, North Carolina that married Alice Hurst.
another reason for this belief is that John and Sarah Walker-Stone had another son that they named Samuel Hatton Stone. In the very lineage that you gave is a William Stone that married Theodosia Wade. Theodosia's mothers maiden name was Hatton, Mary Hatton-Wade. Also within that lineage
their was Elizabeth Roberson-Stone, who too, was married to a William or John Stone.
William Stone Jr. the younger brother of Jonathan and John B. Stone, had a son that he named Lemuel Roberson Stone.John B. Stone and Sarah Walker-Stone also had a son that they named Lemuel Walker Stone. Their are many pieces of circumstantial evidense that tie these line together.
I would surly love to hear from you and of or about any documented papers you may have about these two lines including what you think of the cicumstances that seems to tie these lines together. With your information it may be that John William Stone may have been married twice. Once to a Green who may be related to his brother-in-law Henry
Green and to Alice Hurst. This I really need to look into and see what comes out of the woodpile.
Again, thanks for your reply and my apologies for not answering sooner. Have a safe and warm joyous Holiday and be careful if you travel.
Wishing You and All Yours
A HAPPY HOLIDAY AND NEW YEAR
