I am doing research on the three Stone brothers from Halifax County, North Carolina. One of the brothers whose name was William Stone Jr. at the age of 67 years moved along with several of his children into South Carolina and then on into Gilmer and Putnam County, Georgia where he and his family settled for twenty years. Many of his grandchildren by his son Lemuel R. Stone were born and remained in Georgia when they left and moved to Rusk-Smith
County, Texas. It may be through their lineage that you are looking for your Joseph Stone. I do not have a list of all William Stone's children and grandchildren but William Stone Jr. was born in 1763. Lemuel R. would marry after they arrived in Georgia to Sarah Cooper and have most if not all of their children in Georgia where several remained and several moved to Alabama and to Florida after William and Lemuel moved on to Texas after their twenty years in Georgia. William was 92/93 years old when he applied for his Revolutionary War Pension in Rusk-County, Texas. He would pass away at the age of 96 years old. I know that his own line is a strong Stone family line that has many members that moved about.
Hope this may help you and if it is the Stone line you seek please let me know.
Thanks and here's hoping I hear from you shortly.
