James Stokes married Ann Whitworth in England; emmig. to NY @ 1852 (son, Williamm James Stokes, b NY 8 Jan 1854). Ann's parents, Robert and Elizabeth Whitworth (England), were living with them in Battle Creek, MI (1860 census). William J. married Roanna (Roanie) Bowman. Their daughter, Jetta Belle Stokes, was my grandmother. She married a Switzler.
