My great grandfather Rasmus Andreasen Stoehr was born at Stege, Island of Mon(Moen), Denmark about 1848. He left home at 13, went to sea and endeed up in New Zealand about 1874 where he was known as Peter Steers. He married and lived the rest of his life here. Rasmus apparently had a brother living in San Francisco who died in the big Quake and fire at turn of the century. I'm told that Stoehr is not a Danish name. Does anyone recognise this family?
