Looking for documented evidence regarding Moses Stoddard b. May 1715 in Norwich, CT to Thomas Stoddard and Deborah (Royce) Stoddard. NOTE THIS IS NOT THE MOSES STODDARD WHO MARRIED RUTH GOODWIN--THAT'S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT MOSES. Anyway this Moses marries a Mary (something--some say Mallison, but I'm not convinced because the Mary Mallison folks attach to this Moses Stoddard is listed in Groton, CT records as daughter to Joseph Mallison and Elizabeth Stoddard, but there are four entries for Mary daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth: Mary b. 28 Jan 1719, Mary b. 28 Jan 1721, and 2 entries for Mary b. 4 Oct 1725. Now entry one and two could be duplicates with a transcription error on the year of one and the last two since they are the same date could be duplicates taken from two different records. But assuming even that, USUALLY, when a couple names a second child by the same name it means that the first one died in infancy. This would make Mary b. 4 OCT 1725 the surviving Mary of this couple, and normally in this part of the country at this time too young to have married Moses Stoddard and to have had the children listed to this couple.) I have found NO record of the marriage of Moses Stoddard and Mary (?), only records of births of the children. SO DOES ANYONE HAVE A REFERENCE SOURCE FOR THE MARRIAGE OF MOSES STODDARD (SON OF THOMAS STODDARD AND DEBORAH ROYCE STODDARD) AND MARY (SOMEBODY) or have we all just copied some unsourced theory off the internet? THANKS FOR ANY HELP ON THIS.
