Paula, I would be interested in knowing if you have found any further information concerning the family of Elizabeth Stocks. My gt. grandmother was a Stocks; her father left Loudoun Co., VA after the Civil War as a very young man. We were always told that they were English but it appears that they were originally German Lutherans who may have come to VA through Frederick Co., MD, and possibly by way of Lacaster Co., PA before the 1790's. At one time during the late 1790's there were several Stocks families (we are not yet sure how they were related)in the area on both sides of the Potomac (VA & MD) but many of them appear to have moved on during the early part of the 19th century (1800's).
