Dean,
I agree that it is probable that Nancy Stockman who married William Wiles was the dau of William Stockman. But, I think the 1850 census show William Stockman born in NJ not NY. He is, I suspect, a son of William Stockman and Nancy Lindsley. The father William was a Rev War Soldier who died prior to 1840 but wife Nancy age 81 yrs was alive then and living with her son Moses. Son William had moved to OH by then. It is logical that he would name a daughter after his mother. In 1850 William Wiles and his children were living only a few houses away from William Stockman in Jackson Co. Nancy had died, but the mysterious hand that wrote in the notations has written "Nancy Stockman wife" between William Wiles and the children. They were married 16 Oct 1828 in Ross Co, OH.
