Hi, I too decend from the Stocker clan, and have connections with Devonport. I have got as far back as Willam Stocker b 1824, illeg. son of Mary from Beaminster, Dorset. He moves to Uplyme in Devon by 1851 where he marries Sarah Jefford in 1856. They went on to have 9 children, one of whom, Frank, married Caroline Vowden in 1895 in the register office at Stoke Damerel, as Devonport also seems to have been known. In turn they had 3 children, one of whom died young, and another was my grandmother! Apart from the fact that Frank worked at the naval barracks, could they have been in the area because of family connections? Do they link to any Stockers you know about? I'm happy to supply any info I may have that could be relevant. K Amos
