Seth W. Stockbridge, born in Swan's Island, Maine, 1 Feb. 1825, son of John (1796-1859) and Ruth (Joyce) of Swan's Island. Grandparents were Benjamin and Elizabeth (Dresser) Stockbridge, who can be picked up in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 135(1981):122. See also National Genealogical Society Quarterly, 74(1986):111-18.

Seth's daughter Edith May, born in Gloucester, Mass., 1 March 1867, married (1) in Rowley 1885, William Henry Searles. Edith's mother, Nancy A. (Kiff) (Elwell) Stockbridge, was a sister of Seth's first wife, Eliza I. Kiff.
