Thank you for the info on Eli St. Louis. I spoke with my grandmother and she is certain that Eli was her grandfather. She also informed me that Eli had seventeen children, but that very few of them survived. She gave me five names: Joseph, Julie, Rose, Angeline, and Edward. I am not sure of the order in which they were born. Contrary to the info I gave you in our first communique, my great grandfather was Edward, who was the youngest. This is where I think your record of the family tree may be in error. According to a book that my great grandfather kept, although my great grandfather's name was Edward, he was commonly referred to as Edmond. So, I don't think that Eli had two sons named Edward and Edmond, but rather one son legally named Edward. I looked at your family tree and noted that Edward had married Mary Lada Rouselle. My grandmother told me that her father had been married twice but that his first wife had died in childbirth. His second wife was named Leona Laverture, my great grandmother. Mary Ethel Florence St. Louis, the only child you have listed for them, is my grandmother. She is actually the fourth of five children. I can fill in the family tree from there if you are interested.
I can't be certain of the facts that I have set forth here. But this would be my best guess given all the information that I have received from you and from my grandmother. Please let me know what you think of all this and if you have any further suggestions.
I look forward to hearing from you.
