I'm trying to figure out what churches my ancestors might have attended in St. Louis.
My HEBERER ancestors came from Dietzenbach, Germany where they attended the Evangelical church. They came to the U.S. about 1852 and lived in St. Louis. They may also have lived in Illinois for a few years. I have a number of their obituaries from St. Louis, but none of them mention a church.
My great-grandmother was a HEBERER and married into the BURKHART family. All of their children were baptized in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The BURKHARTS were from Jechtingen, Germany and were Catholic. The majority of their obituaries mention a Catholic church.
I am wondering if the HEBERERS were a religion other than Catholic and what church in St. Louis they might have attended. Here are some addresses in St. Louis (from a city directory and from a census) that I have for them:
1866 - 11th and Wash
1870 - 1304 N. 12th
Also, my grandmother, Rose MOELLINGER, lived in St. Louis. According to the census records, she was born in Ireland, but she married a German from France. I am pretty certain that she was Catholic. What Catholic church might she have attended in St. Louis? Here are the addresses (taken from city directories) that I have for her:
1879 - 820 Biddle
1883/84 - 1006 N. 12th
1884/85 - 1329 N 9th
1887/88 - 1007 O'Fallon
1889 - 1811 O'Fallon
1893 - 1439 Biddle
Any help would be appreciated. I am going to Salt Lake City in June and I would like to look at any church records they might have filmed for churches my ancestors might have attended. I live in California so I am not familiar with the St. Louis area.
