Liz, Many St. Louis birth certificates from the early eras don't exist, but baptisms were recorded. If you have any idea of his religion you could start by searching church records here. Our genealogy library is located on the 3rd floor of the St. Louis co. Library, on Lindbergh Blvd. Their website is www.slcl.lib.mo.us Maybe they can take you to the next step. Happy hunting Yvonne
