This IS the correct Samuel Stitt that I was looking for, who married Harriett V. Tharp April 26, 1846 in Miami Co., Indiana . Samuel Born ca 1820 Gilpin Twp., Armstrong Co., PA. Harriett Born ca 1828 - 1831 Pocahontas Co., VA. Died After 1863 & before 1899. In Iowa ? This family moved to Louisa Co., Iowa in 1851 along with Harriett's siblings, James, Nicholas LEE, Thomas and Elizabeth Jr., and possibly their mother, Elizbeth Tharp, SR.
Samuel and Harriett had seven children.
1- Elizabeth Stitt B: 1848 IN. D: 1861-1863 Iowa
2- John Samuel Stitt B: 1850 Harrison Twp. Miami Co., IN.
Mrd: ca 1875 to Rachel Statten
3- Isabelle "Belle" Stitt B: 1851/52
Mrd: 1870/72 Louisa Co., IA. to Mr. Beckey/Becky
4- James William Stitt B: Nov. 6, 1853 Cedar Co. IA
Never married. D: January 28, 1925 Grandview, IA.
5- Phillip Stitt B: 1856 D: Between Sept. 1861-Apr 1863
6- Mary E. Stitt B: 1858 ( listed on 1860 Census but not
found after that. ( believe she died 1861 - 1863 )
7- Martha Lavina Stitt B: Feb. 8, 1852 Louisa Co. Iowa
D: August 11, 1934 Muscatine, Iowa.
Mrd: Wm. Harvey Raushenberger Oct. 28, 1866 in
Schuyler, MO.
Do not know when Samuel died ?
Harriett remarried Dec. 1858 to Mr. Wm. S. Johnson
at Muscatne, Iowa.
They had one child Nicholas Lee Johnson B: 1859/60
