Hi, Do you have any information on the father of William Stirrat? According to our tracing, we have a James Stirrat from Grenock and a Daniel Stirrat that came to this US prior to 1844. Daniel, our ancestor, came to Illinois. He married and had children, James, Francis, Elizabeth, and others who died young. Daniel was born in 1810. His first son was named Francis. There was a Francis Stirrat born in Dalry, Beith area born 1812, married to Agnes Montgomerie. I wonder if this could have been a brother. (Family story has something of seven brothers coming to US and all but two dying on the ship, don't know if this is true). At any rate, Francis and James and Elizabeth are handed down in the family. Wonder if William's father might be Francis and if this fits into my family. Any guesses. Vera Russell
