Welcome to the family. You have lots of Stirrat cousins out there. Your father Frank had a brother Arthur and I am in contact with his one daughter, Marilyn. Another brother to your father, George, has a daughter Laura who still lives in New York.

Your lineage is:
-William Stirrat and Jean Blair. Jean was the daughter of William Blair and Margaret Miller
- Sam Stirrat and Elizabeth McKinnon. Elizabeth is the daughter of Robert McKinnon and Sarah Jones
Sam came to New York City in 1864 from Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. He was a master baker and opened up a bakery in Manhattan. Some of his children were born in Scotland. I descend from his son William who was 10 when the family arrived here.
-Sam Stirrat- this your ancestor. He was born in NYC in 1865. He was a plumber.

There were other children, and I have been in contact with a third son's descendants: his name was Robert.

None of us knew that any of us were out there. So welcome to the known family

Valerie
