George Stingley came to Sallis, Attala Co.,Ms around 1840. He was a widower with one grown son. He married again to the widow Nancy Ashley Eakin. She was the widow of William G. Eakin and she had 3 childen, one being my great-grandfather John Marshall Eakin(b.1841). George Stingley married Nancy Eakin about 1843 and had four children. One was George W. (b.abt 1847).
George and Nancy Stingley moved to Scott and then Smith Co.Ms. around Morton (just out side of Raleigh,Ms.)
George Stingley died in 1862 and Nancy married a Daniel Derrick.
Some of the Stingley families moved to Tx. around 1870.
I think that your G.W. Stingley is the son of my gg-grandmother Nancy Ashley Eakin Stingley Derrick.
I am sorry to say that I have no information on the Stingley children of George and Nancy, other than Louise Jane (sister of G.W.).
Would like to share info.
Wanda Eakin Lentz
