I think I misunderstood your request. I did find George in the 1900 NE York Co, census of Stewart Twp. In case you don't have the info:

Stilwell, David Apr 1854 46 farmer IL OH OH
Ellen Dec 1873 26 VT VT VT
George R Oct 1898 2 NE IL VT

It shows David and Ellen to be married 8 yrs but NO children. An error in the census maybe?

Are you tracing the adoptive parents' line? Have you been able to find when George was adopted?
