I am researching the same line. Jacob Stiers and Ruhama had a son named Samuel and according to the 1850 census he was still living in Rush, Indiana. Also on the same 1850 census is Samuel Stiers,Jr. who was born in 1823 in Ohio and now living in Rush, Indiana. According to some records, Samuel, the son of Jacob and Ruhama did not have a son named Samuel but his brother Andrew did. I had always assumed that Samuel,Jr was the son of Samuel.Since the same census taker made both entries for a Samuel Stiers and a Samuel Stiers,Jr., he knew there were two Samuels living near each other. Confusing! I know that some children were not mentioned in wills because of disagreements in the family.
