Yes we are. Johann Michael Wurz and Christiana Catharina Sommer had 8 known children. Among them were Christiana Wurz, born August 15, 1833 (she married Simon Lauer; they are my husband's ggg grandparents). Their 5th child was Christina Catharina Wurz, July 1, 1840 in Halden, Germany (your ancestor). This family lived in Adolzfurt, Germany. They were protestant but converted to Catholic after their arrival in Baltimore.
Your Christina Catharina had two children out of wedlock in Germany, one being Mary Friederike Katharine Wurz. After C.C. Sommer married Karl Tobias Stiefel, Mary added Stiefel to her name. I don't believe adoption was the same then.
After Karl's death, C.C. Sommer Wurz and four of her children immigrated to Baltimore, MD, where they lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Simon Lauer. They left from Bremen, Germany on the steamship, Braunschweig, and arrived in the Port of Baltimore on April 8, 1880.
I have Mary F. K. as marring Francis Mackemull. I have nine children for this couple. Where do you fit in?
