Cyrus James Western married Rebecca, the daughter of Gabriel Stickley, 1791-1856, and Rebecca (Keller) Stickley, 1792-1873. Gabriel is the son of Jacob & Elizabeth (Voltzin) Stickley. I am in the same line. The patriarchs are John & Barbara Sticley of Frederick County, VA. John was born as Hans Stockli (umlaut over the third letter.).

Jacob's line is well documented, available in many libraries, and on the internet. The most complete and documented version of the early Stickley Genealogy is Cousin Daniel Bly's second volume of "From The Rhine To The Shenandoah." There are more than several Stickley genealogists who continue to pursue the Stickley Genealogy. Connie Miller, now deceased, was the most informed cousin on Jacob's line. Arlene Lambard is the most well informed genealogist for the Racey Connection. I mention her because your "Bracey" I carry as Racey. I have no proof that he was named Racey. Cyrus is listed as Cyrus James Western and also as James Western. Augusta County is the place to start for record searches. Ellsworth Stickley of Strasburg published the first extensive genealogy of the descendants of John & Barbara.

I would be most happy to exchange data with you if only to compare the names of the ten children.

My ties are to both Frederick County MD & VA. Bertha Estella (Miller) Stickley, daughter of Amos Miller, my paternal grandmother, ties me to MD via the The Hauver family. My mother's line stems fron the Johnsons of Frederick County, MD. The Hauvers who left MD were known as Oates in Hampshire County, VA/WV. My grandfather, John Marion Stickley, of course ties me to Frederick County, VA.

I am currently researching the Johnsons of Hawbottom as differentiated from the Governor's line, Jeremiah's line, the Whipp-Johnson line, and the Thomas-Johnson line. The patriarch of the Hawbottom line is Thomas Johnson, 1712-1778, son of Henry & Margaret Johnstone/Johnston/Johnson.
Thomas' wife is Mary Rogers; their seven children are Henry, John, Thomas, Joseph, Mary, Robert, and Martha.

Regards,

Paul Lee Stickley
