The Stickley Family of VA, U.S.A.

Hans Stockli became known early in his life in America after his early years in Europe (SZ & Holland) as John Stickley because, I believe, that is how the his name sounded. His first and only wife is Barbara Morgan. There is no proof that her surname is Morgan, altho prestigious databases so acknowledge it to be. Hans (John) was born in SZ in 1697 according to several accounts. He died in VA in 1770. His WILL establishes his wife as Barbara and their descendant children. The Swiss Stockli family was anabaptista, and expelled from SZ after 1711 for this.

I wish to point out that those who read about the Stockli family need to know that the umlaut is written over the third letter in the surname so that is not pronounced "stock lee." I use "Alt 148" to produce the umlaut over the letter.

I offer to respond to a legitimate Query from a Stickley descendant as long as it is within my cable tow and I have the time and ability to respond. Some years ago, I sought help from Stickley ancestor hunters, and was given an awesome amount of help from Ellsworth, Pat, Ruby, Connie, David, Caroline, Haven, Darlton, Maxine, Dolores, Delores, John, Daniel, and several others who asked that I not mention their name.

I am in the process of proofing my (sic) database, which, as I acknowledge, is the fruit of numerous cousins. I cannot estimate how long this proofing will take!
