James Harris The documentation that I have suggests that three brothers originally came to the New World. Their names were Peter, John and Jacob Stickel. Their father was named Christoph. Jacob Stickel, a citizen of Eugenhausen Pastorat Spilberg, District Altenstanger, Weirtemberg, was born at Eugenhausen, August 9th, 1708. His father Christoph was Mayor at the same place and his mother's name was Anna Braun. Jacob was lawfully and openly married on Oct. 23, 1734 to Magdalena (the stepdaughter of Michael Hubers) born at Eugenhauser, Nov. 23, 1713. Their children were: Christoph b. Feb. 10, 1736 Barbara b. Oct. 14, 1737 Jacob b. Jan. 21, 1741 Johannes b. Oct. 21, 1745 (died as infant) Johann George b. Feb. 24, 1748 Anna b. Feb. 20, 1751 Anna b. March 15, 1754 Hans George b. Aug. 15, 1755 Peter b. 1757 I am a descendant of John, one of the three original brothers. He settled in Dutchess County, New York. He had three sons (John, William and Nicholas J.), and two daughters (names unknown), all of whom remained in Dutchess County. Nicholas J. was loyal to the British cause during the Revolutionary War and chose to emigrate to Canada with his wife and one son, John N. This was prior to 1790. John N.is the son from whom I descend. My ancestors settled at the Front, in Adolphustown, which is near Picton, Ontario, Canada. They then moved on to Sidney Township. It appears that our ancestors branched out from these areas, some moving south into Virginia and others moving west into Ohio and Pennsylvania. It is my opinion that the majority of the Stickles in North America should be able to trace themselves back to these original three brothers. Bruce Stickle Notify Administrator about this message?
