CHICAGO - Stephen Edgar Kniss, 60, of Chicago, formerly of Springfield, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at his home.
He was born Oct. 20, 1946, in Springfield, the son of Glenn A. and Evelyn Stice Kniss.
Mr. Kniss graduated from Springfield High School in 1964 and earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors in physics from the University of Illinois and a Master of Arts in physics from Western Illinois University. He taught for many years in Chicago public schools and several area colleges.
Survivors: companion, Crystal Sorbi of Chicago; father, Glenn of Springfield; sister, Glenna Kniss of Springfield; brother, Richard Kniss of Springfield; stepsister, Kathleen Mohan of Tucson, Ariz.; a niece; many nephews and aunts; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.
Memorial services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Olson, Burke, Sullivan Funeral Center, Chicago, and 2 p.m. Tuesday, First Presbyterian Church.
