Well, hi, Kay - since you are a member of our Ardmore OK DAR chapter, I just read your post on the Stewart genforum tonight while also watching the Dallas Cowboy football game. I research the John Stewart/Stuart lineage from Rowan/now Davie Co., NC, since he married in 1765 my Hannah Boone, b. 1746, youngest sister of Daniel Boone. John was a frontiersman, hunter, explorer, with his brother-in-law, Daniel when they went into north Florida and into Kentucky. No proof has been sent to me of this John Stewart's parents, although guesses have been made. Hannah stayed around Dutchman's Creek at Yadkin River in NC raising their 4 daughters. John was with the hunting party in Kentucky when he went off on his own in 1769 and was not found However, in Draper Mss. it is written that years later, his bones were found in the hollow of a
Sycamore tree, an arm bone broken, with a powder horn and the initials JS on it. Hannah married again in 1777 in Rowan Co., NC, and they are my ancestors. Sharing our Stewart lineage might be interesting. Nell - Texas1933@aol.com
