I am not related to this Stewart family but am posting this old OBIT because I am sure it contains information someone out there would like to have. I do not know what newspaper it was clipped from but it was dated August 27, 1897 (old and faded). It read:
In Memoriam. Elizabeth A. (Stewart) Richardson was born June 8, 1820 in Jackson County, Alabama. She was the oldest child of Evans Stewart, and was 77 years, 2 mos and 12 days. She moved to Polk County, Missouri, in the year 1834 and was married to Jesse Richardson in the year 1840, and was the mother of ten children, five of whom survive her. She embraced religion in the year 1864,and joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church October 26, 1872, of which she lived a devoted member until death. In the death of Sister Richardson the church has lost one of her brightest lights. When we gather in church, how sad to look upon that vacant seat so long occupied by that faithful mother of Israel, but while the seat is vacant here, a mansion is occupied in glory. As we, with sad hearts bid her adieu, we hear a sweet voice saying, “Welcome thou good and faithful servant.” When she was the end was near she called her loved ones to the bedside and bade them each an affectionate farewell, earnestly requesting to meet her in the sweet beyond. Sorrow not, dear children, but follow the example set by that sainted mother, for precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
This clipping was kept by her son Francis Marion Richardson who was born 1 Feb 1857 Marion, Polk Co MO d. 3 Feb 1940 Maricopa, Kern Co CA who married 12 June 1878 Margaret Barrett Heath b. 31 Aug 1862 Benton Co MO d. 5 Feb 1948 Bakersfield, Kern Co CA. The couple had no issue of their own but adopted a child: Herbert Tasker Richardson b. 2 Nov 1887 Ft. Scott, KS d. 7 May 1953 Santa Cruz, CA. married ca 1918 Dottie Lottie Wilson b. 15 Nov 1898 Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo Co CA d. 23 Aug 1957 Santa Maria, Santa Barbara Co CA. Herbert Tasker Richardson and his wife Donnie had four children:
John Marion Richardson b.ca. 1919 Wasiojo, Santa Barbara Co CA d. in the Phillipines in WWII in POW camp. I do not know if he married.
Herbert Tasker Richardson JR b. 7 Dec 1920 Wasiojo, Santa Barbara Co CA d. 1 Oct 1949 San Luis Obispo, CA m. Mary E. Unknown.
Charles Barrett Richardson b. 22 Mar 1926 Kern Co CA
Margaret Richardson b.unknown married unknown LEAL
Doreen Lillian Richardson b. 1 Jan 1939 Santa Barbara Co CA
