I am looking for any information on the following Stewart line from Pennsylvania: John and Janette Stewart from Scotland, parents of Jacob Stewart m. Elizabeth (Jacob possibly born NJ) parents of Jacob Stewart m. Barbara Hoover These last were the parents of Mary Stewart m. Andrew Laney who were my 4G Grandparents. I am very interested in finding any source documents for these Stewarts and if anyone has linked them to Scotland. Any port of entry or link to family accross the pond? I would appreciate any information you may have. I have only a few stories of how: Jacob (1) was a farmer in vicinity of Plumville, PA and froze to death while out hunting. He was buried in an unmarked grave in Atwood Cemetery near Atwood in a top corner behind a stone marked Dunmire. Jacob (2) (b. Jan 10, 1818 or 19) was a farmer, blacksmith and had married a cousin Polly after the death of Elizabeth and died of Pneumonia. He is buried in unmarked grave with Polly and Barbara in Fairview Cemetery near Hillsdale: Children were: George b. 1844 Samuel b. 1845 Joseph b. 1847 John b. 1849 Eliza b. 1851 Mary b. 1856 (twin) Elizabeth b. 1856 (twin) Adam b. 1857 (twin) baby girl b. 1857 These are from a letter from a cousin of my Grandfather who were both descendents. In the letter it mentions that several Dukes and Earls not of the royal line are said to be our ancestors. No source for this info is mentioned. Also it lists John Stewart of Bonkyl right before it mentions John and Janette from Scotland. Again no further info. I would love to find out more of this family branch of mine. If you don't have any info I would appreciate if you forward this to anyone else who may know or give me further contacts. With this info I have a theory that they may have been Appin Stewarts (descent from Stewart of Bonkyl) and with the popular name of Jacob for 2 generations that John (m. Janette) may have been the son of a Jacobite soldier from the time of the "45". Just a theory with the info I have. Thank you for your time, Shawn Notify Administrator about this message?
