My Stewart family lived in Halifax County, Virginia and Casell and Person Counties North Carolina. I am not familiar with the name Asbury. When the Stewarts left that area they came on to Trigg County Kentucky about 1827 and l828. Some of the boys came on first and then the rest of the family. I am not aware of the family being in the Charlotte area, but I'm sure you know that it could be part of the family went there. I do know some went to Georgia during the land lottery, stayed there a few years and then came to Kentucky to be with the rest of the family, since the mother Mason (yes a woman) moved there (Ky) when the rest of the family came on to Kentucky. Sorry I cannot be of help with the Asbury family.
