re: Rev. Andrew Stewart, St. John’s Church, Donegore, co. Antrim, N. Ireland.
An entry in the Ulster visitation book in 1622 describes the Donegore church, Diocese of Connor, as "decayed". Around this time a Scottish colony was established in the area, ministers of Scottish Presbyterian origin were ordained to serve in the Established church, and the Rev. Andrew Stewart of Donegore was one of the first. His son-in-law was incumbent in 1659, the date which is over the doorway of the church.

The Reverend Andrew Stewart, minister of Donaghadee from 1645 to 1671, son of Rev. Andrew Stewart, who was settled minister of Donegore in the year 1627, wrote "A short account of the Church of Christ as it was amongst the Irish at first:--among and after the English entered:--and after the entry of the Scots."

Would you know the ancestry of Rev. Andrew Stewart
and whether he was connected to the Houston family
back in Scotland ?Thankyou.
