I was browsing "Stewart" today and came across your query of 18Jan2000. I have some info which - if you have not already gathered - would be useful. Your Robert L. (or perhaps "S") was the youngest son of Dr. James W. Stewart (born - probably Greensville Cnty - Va in 1810), dentist, who died Matagorda Cnty, TX Aug 1850. His children - Martha A., John R., Mary E., Alice E., James W., and Robert S., were at the time of his death, the wards of James C. Robinson - Warren Cnty, NC (Rchd's brother probably). Letty Robinson would have been James' 1st wife - I do not know when (or if) she died in Nov 1849, James remarried and brought that wife to Texas. He is listed Greensville Cnty, VA, 1830 (in the household of his father Rchd Stewart), and 1840 (in his own household); then in 1850 in Matagorda Cnty, TX. There's more to this but the thumbnail will get you started.

I would be interested to know if in your "Records of Estates, Warren Cnty, NC you have date ranges which might contain info useful to my in search.

There is more info I can provide to you, if you can use it, contact me at thompson.marsha@sbcglobal.net.
