Greetings, Looking for others researching Major Joseph STEVENS 'of Essex and Caroline' counties, died 1766, was the father of Capt Richard Stevens, of Caroline and Spotsylvania counties, VA. Joseph's wife/Richard's mother: unproven/unknown Richard married 2nd: Mary Beverley Carter. (I have a copy of Richard's Will. He died in 1808. Mary B (Carter) Stevens, d. ca 1848, Hanover Co., VA) Their children included: Lewis (my ancestor) who m. Ann 'Nancy' Tyler She was the daughter of George & Judith (Terrell) Tyler, of 'River Bend' Spotsylvania Co., VA. Lewis and Ann/Nancy, moved to St. Louis Co., MO, ca 1830s. Their children included: Dr. R. H. Stevens, who married Missouri Ann Cordell. She was the daughter of Hiram Cordell and Sarah Mason. Hope to connect with others researching STEVENS lines in the Central Rapphannock region, especially Caroline, Essex, Spotsylvania, and adjacent and nearby counties.
