Maureen,
I tried to find the connection of Fred Stevens to the Brink family, but have not been able to figure it out. I did find Eliza A. is actually Elija A. which makes more sense.
He and Sarah were in Pike, Bradford, PA 1850 so perhaps that is where Fred's family would have been. I found several Stevens families there but no Fred in 1860 so have no idea where he was 1860 or 1870 . He should be with his parents in those years. I found Elijah Austin Brink married Sarah Elizabeth Lake Nov. 25, 1848 in PA.
So she is not a Stevens which I had thought she might be.
Go to familysearch.org and try all the names and you will find some of them. I did not find parents of Sarah Elizabeth but her birth and marriage are shown.
Seems to me for Fred to be a nephew of either Elijah or Sarah, his mother or father should be a brother or sister of one of them, so maybe his mother was a Brink? But as Fred's father would be a Stevens he is not a brother to Elijah and from what I found on Sarah apparently not her brother either. So that leaves sisters.
Or perhaps they are calling him a nephew when he is a more distant relative?
But he must be living with them for some reason. I took a look at ancestry.com to see what they had on Elijah's siblings and there are several entries. I don't know if they have all of them listed, but I checked on the sisters they showed and none of them married a Stevens.
I have not been able to check on Sarah's parents or siblings so that is a possiblity. But it is still a possibility that one of Sarah's sisters married a Stevens.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Carolyn
